The second seeded Scotsman played a steady game as he kept his cool that helped him advance to the second round of the US Open. Andy, playing his first game of the tournament outplayed Ernests Gulbis of Latvia, as he defeated the big-hitting player 7-5, 6-3, 7-5 in straight sets on Tuesday.
It was quite a smooth and a straightforward performance from second seeded Murray. “I played well tonight. It was great fun. I always wanted to play night matches since I was a boy, so I hope to play more and keep going,” said Murray. Having recently been knocked out by Federer in the semi finals of the ATP – Western & Southern Financial Group Masters I believe Murray has learnt a lot from his early exit at the Australian Open in January this year. Using CPD, he is improving with a view to being in and winning the final on Sunday 13th September 2009. |
