Football: CPD - The Fear Of The Unknown

CPD is not to be feared but embraced – it is the process that gives a good team an opportunity to become a great one, whatever the challenges of the economy.
The LMA acknowledge the value of CPD and are supporting our delivery of CPD services to football clubs. CPD will neutralise the financial strength of the larger clubs and will help the manager to: Improve team results and enjoy long term “healthy” employment. Develop a competitive team without the need to spend £millions. All this adds up to a happy, highly skilled squad and increased bottom line profits. What is CPD? Using the best team performance this season, CPD puts a process in place which enables the team to repeat that level of performance at every game as a minimum and then it improves that performance. Similar to the processes used by managers and coaches to train their squad CPD introduces a process to develop the players giving them the skills and competencies to improve, week by week month by month. It complements and adds value to the training the team are already doing. What does success look like to you? For example Chelsea wants to win the Premiership. Be yourself: People can aspire to be as good as someone else, e.g. say for a manager it maybe Sir Alex and for the players it could be Rooney, but to be the best you can possibly be you must be yourself. Do what you do naturally: This means that the skill and competency level the players have must come naturally. I use putting on a seatbelt; you know what you must do so you do it naturally – without really thinking too much about it. CPD develops the players giving them the skills they need to do things naturally and to have the skills to raise the bar to the next level. CPD also reduces the amount of mistakes the team makes. Stay calm and in control of your emotions: We have all done something or made a decision when we are angry or upset that we regret. CPD develops the players giving them the skills to stay calm and in control of their emotions at all times. Have fun! On the training pitch there is a good vibe and most of the time the players are enjoying what they are doing, they are having some fun. However, often when the team get onto the pitch in a game their mood changes and so does their performance. CPD develops the player’s skills so they can have some FUN and WIN. CPD + TLLAL = SUCCESS |
